6 Nations 2021 Round 3 Predictions

The 6 Nations had a blessed life and managed to get through the first 2 rounds without any COVID cases. That’s all fallen apart now with the French team recording 10 cases. We’ll hopefully hear Wednesday evening (Europe time) what’s going to happen with their game against Scotland so there might need to be some editing of this post later.

Italy v Ireland – Ireland by 15

Italy did show some signs of improvement against England and I expect to see some more of that against Ireland. By that I mean I think we’ll see a couple of really well worked tries and Italy playing the full 80 mins. I don’t think that it will be enough for the victory though.

However Ireland are in a really poor run of form even if a Red card in the opening game didn’t help them. They’ll be low on confidence and this goes from being a game to test players out into a must win game for Farrell as a new head coach. That kind of pressure can do funny things to a team to Ireland might struggle more than you’d expect.

Wales v England – England by 3

As has been said on social media and podcasts, Wales are only 3 cards away from a Grand Slam. So far they have been lucky that their opponents have been reduced by a player in both games. Surely that can’t continue? I wouldn’t be surprised to see a red card or even 2 this weekend but surely Wales can’t be the lucky recipients again???

For all that Wales are 2 wins from 2 games they haven’t impressed. England also are struggling but I feel that they should have more class and take this victory but it’s going to be a close one.

France v Scotland – Scotland by 3 Postponed

Look this is the prediction that I’m expecting to have to edit. At the moment with France missing 10 players to COVID surely this means Scotland go into the game in the better position. Their players have been able to train and have been together for about a month now. France on the other hand might have to call in players who haven’t been in training at all to make up the match-day squad.

Take this one with a pinch of salt for now as we wait to get more news on what’s happening with this game.

EDIT: Well the game is to go ahead as planned and so I’ll stick with my prediction above. Scotland to win due to being together longer and not disrupted the way France have been.

EDIT 2: Nope we are postponed as there’s been another case of COVID in the French camp. So the prediction is off until we know when the game is rescheduled for. Yup it will be rescheduled as the TV money is just too important for the unions, it’s not about rules or tournament integrity.

Record So Far

2 from 2 or 100% so far, a great start but it was only 2 games.
