Pro14 2020-2019 Round 11 Predictions

We went into last weekend with 3 unbeaten sides in the Pro14 and left with only 1. Ulster are the only team with a perfect record now and they head to Dublin next. That will be a cracking tie this weekend.

Glasgow Warriors v Edinburgh – Edinburgh by 3

It’s absolutely shocking to see some common sense from rugby administrators in Europe. Replacing the Scotland v Italy ties with the postponed derbies this weekend is a great call.

Glasgow’s season went from bad to worse last weekend as they lost to Edinburgh. I’m backing Edinburgh to make it back to back wins for the second time this season. Yup their only other 2 wins were back to back.

In reality the season is over for both Scottish sides as they aren’t going to finish top of their conferences to qualify for the final. They should be concentrating on getting the players ready for the 6 Nations and preparing the squad for the Rainbow Cup when the South African sides join the competition in April.

Leinster Rugby v Ulster Rugby – Leinster Rugby by 5

This is a massively important game and could decide who has a good and poor season. With only 1 team qualifying from each conference for the final finishing top is all that matters for these 2 sides. With Leinster losing last weekend to Connacht, this has become almost a knockout game for them.

I can’t see Leinster resting their leading players this weekend and Ulster are in for an almighty challenge in Dublin. I’m backing Leinster to bounce back and win this one to keep Conference alive.

Zebre Rugby Club v Benetton Rugby – Zebre Rugby Club by 5

The only teams having a worse time of it this season than the Scottish sides are the Italian ones. Clearly that means their not in the running for making the finals, but that’s like every year for them. There is little form to go on as I said last week. So I’m going off the result from last weekend and backing Zebre to do the double.

Cardiff Blues v Scarlets – Scarlets by 3

Right I think I finally have a pecking order for the Welsh sides. As you’ll see below the Welsh sides have been causing me real problems this season. My pecking order is Scarlets, Ospreys, Blues and Dragons. Not what I expected preseason to be honest.

With that in mind I’m backing the Scarlets to win a narrow one here against Cardiff. A key game for the order of the sides in Conference B mid-table. Yup neither of these sides are going to be troubling Munster’s run to the final.

Dragons v Ospreys – Ospreys by 3

As you’ll have already guessed from my comments above I’m backing an Ospreys narrow win here. I backed them to beat Scarlets and lose to the Blues so maybe I’ll be third time lucky?

Again this is a game for bragging rights only and neither side will be anywhere near the finals come the end of the comp which will happen mid-season…..Yup you’re allowed to be confused.

Connacht Rugby v Munster Rugby – Connacht Rugby by 3

If Connacht have any aspirations of making the final then this is a must win game for them. Munster will be hurting after their loss to Ulster last weekend and will be looking to bounce back. However they are going to be facing a side full of self belief after they beat Leinster. As long as there isn’t a hangover from that game (literal or figuratively speaking) then at home, I think that they can do it.

Record So Far

I’m 35 from 49 or 67%, Ospreys and Scarlets are causing me so many problems. I’m less than 50% accurate on both of them which is really hampering me this season.
