Last week I said this was the best time of the year as a fan of the Pro14. It’s not when half the games get called off due to COVID! With 3 games lost last weekend I really have no idea how many we’ll see go ahead this weekend. With all the uncertainty it’s hard to find much enthusiasm for the games at the moment. Still we will forge ahead anyway.

Scarlets v Dragons – Scarlets by 7
Once bitten, twice shy as they say. I went for the Dragons last weekend against Cardiff but they came up just short. The Scarlets got an away home win (officially away but played at their ground), last weekend and they should have too much for the Dragons this weekend. That ability to win tight games could be the difference. Yup all Scarlets wins this season have been by a score. To be fair so have 2 of Dragons 3 wins in the Pro14…. It’s going to be a tight one.
Cardiff Blues v Ospreys – Cardiff Blues by 7
Again you have to go with the home team that got the tight win last weekend. Ospreys came up just short which will have dented confidence where as Cardiff sealed the deal in a tight one. Home advantage and that little difference in confidence being the difference this weekend is my call.
Benetton Rugby v Zebre Rugby Club – Benetton Rugby by 5
We’re at flip a coin level here. Both sides having a shocking season but also have been missing their internationals nearly the whole time. We don’t have a game from last weekend to go on either. How have the 2 sides integrated their internationals back in? How well are they coping with all the COVID disruptions?
We have little evidence to go on. Both sides went well in their Challenge Cup games against French opposition. But did the French sides want to be there? In the end I’m going with the home side even though they have had the COVID cases recently.
Edinburgh v Glasgow Warriors – Edinburgh by 5
Another case of not really having much to go on. Both sides with just 2 wins in the league both against Cardiff and Scarlets funnily enough. In the end you have to go with Edinburgh who are at home and it’s been Glasgow that’s been disrupted by COVID cases.
Ulster Rugby v Munster Rugby – Ulster Rugby by 3
Right we are into games that might actually decide who wins the Pro14 this season. At the moment it feels like it’s a shootout between the Irish sides to take the title they are so far ahead of all the other teams. This should be a cracking game between 2 undefeated sides. I’m just going with Ulster at home however I do feel that Munster are the slightly better side. As I say should be a cracker.
Leinster Rugby v Connacht Rugby – Leinster Rugby by 20
It’s Leinster so you have to back them by a big margin. Connacht might give them their biggest test of the season so far but I still can’t see them coming away with anything. The only question mark is how disruptive were those COVID tests last week that caused the postponement of last weekend’s Munster v Leinster game?
Still Leinster have so much depth that they shouldn’t have any problems this weekend.
Record So Far
I’m 32 from 46 or 70%, I went for 2 upsets in the Welsh games last weekend and they very nearly came off….
