Did the Gallagher Premiership even have a break? Apparently is must have but it felt like only for the European games. Clearly the show must go on! Who cares about worn out players?

Newcastle Falcons v Sale Sharks – Sale Sharks by 3
This should be ab easy away win pick considering we are talking about about a promoted team vrs a team that was so close to the semi-finals last year. However Flacons really stirred things up by beating Bath (semi-finalists last season) in their opening game.
Surely they can’t do it 2 weeks on the bounce? I’m guessing not but it is a bit of a guess. Sale also, historically, haven’t been a great travelling side…..
Northampton Saints v Harlequins – Northampton Saints by 5
Ouch! Quins lost by 30 points last round to Exeter. Sure Exeter are going to beat most if not all teams this season but by 30 points and not scoring a try???
Will we see Quins bounce back from that or will it be a tough start to the season for them? I’m going with the latter here. They might have finished 6th last season but it was with a losing record.
This will be Chris Boyd’s third season at Saints. This is when we should be really seeing his impact on the side. It’s his players who should know his systems now.
Bristol v Worcester – Warriors Bristol by 7
Warriors will be happy to have beaten Irish in their opening game but it was only by 1 point. Bristol had a tough trip to Wasps but at home should get their first win of the season. If not then there need to be some questions asked of what is really a playoff team.
Exeter Chiefs v Bath Rugby – Exeter Chiefs by 15
Bath used to be Exeter’s boggy team but that’s long since gone now. After a loss to Newcastle in the opening round, this is the worst game possible for Bath. 2 losses to kick off the season is not a good look.
Gloucester Rugby v Wasps – Wasps by 7
Great time for Wasps to travel to Gloucester. The Cheery and Whites are in a mess. Changes at coaching staff and just before the season are never a good sign. Then losing to almost relegated Tigers in the opening round.
Away win is stamped all over this one.
London Irish v Leicester Tigers – Leicester Tigers by 7
What a start for Tigers and a trip to Irish really could lead to a massive turnaround on last season. Sure it’s only 2 games but it gives them breathing room.
For Irish it’s almost a must win game with Newcastle and Worcester picking up wins in the opening round. A relegation battle looks on the cards already. Well that’s is ring fencing doesn’t happen…..
Record So Far
4 from 6 or 67%, not the best start but at least a start.
