Mitre 10 Cup 2020 Final Predictions

Wow this is the last weekend of the Mitre 10 Cup already. Well others would say how come their playing an T20 game at the same time as the Championship Final and will they have converted Eden Park’s pitch in time for the Premiership final???

Steven will be at Auckland v Tasman bringing you post match interviews as usual over on our Facebook page.

Hawke’s Bay v Northland – Hawke’s Bay by 15

Hawke’s Bay have been clearly the best side in the Championship and that’s been backed-up with their Ranfurly Shield run. There were questions around if the shield defences would have taken too much out of the team physically and emotionally. Their results over the last 2 weeks beating Taranaki away and then dominating them at home suggest not.

Northland on the other hand really peeked at the right time to get into the semi-finals and to then go away and win. All that travel though will have taken a toll on the team. As we know money is tight so they won’t have been staying any extra nights than they had to.

You have to say this should be a relatively comfortable home win.

Auckland v Tasman – Auckland by 5

Oh boy this one does not feel like a comfortable win for either side. Auckland have had a really emotional season and I heard that at the post match interview last weekend. I was asked to cut the latter part as it got too emotional. For me that means can Auckland keep that emotion under control and use it as fuel or will it overwhelm them?

Tasman are the reigning champions but really haven’t been in championship form this season. Maybe they lost 1 or 2 players too many to the All Blacks, but they are back at the big dance again and you have to be in it to win it. Can they come up with that one big performance? Yes they can but I haven’t seen it so far from them so you have to say probably not.
