It was interesting listening to the Attacking Scrum podcast that they believe that the Autumn Nations Cup is here to stay. Not in the format that it is in today as it will need to incorporate the Rugby Championship sides. However some sort of defined competition rather than just a collection of test matches.

Anyway you’re here for the Autumn Nations Cup predictions so let’s get into them.
Scotland v Fiji – Cancelled
Fiji’s game against Scotland has been cancelled due to the 10-day isolation period for players. Fiji Players are under going another round of tests and it’s hoped that they will be able to play on the 5th of December against the 4th placed side in Group A, who’ll be Georgia.
Wales v England – England by 20
Let’s be honest this Wales side has been shocking in this tournament, well this year really. They did get a moral boosting win at the weekend but it was only by 18 points against Georgia. England beat Georgia by 40 points.
I know that a 20 points win over Wales is a big call and that as I’m English there will be accusations of bias. However this is a Welsh side that lost by 23 points to Ireland and England have just beaten Ireland by 11 points.
Maybe I’m actually on the low side here and if I am I feel sorry of Wayne Pivac. His time as an international coach could be over before it’s really got going.
France v Italy – France by 10
I know that a 10 point win for France is on the low side against Italy. But what kind of side are France going to put out? They have an agreement to not use players in more than 3 games. So are we going to see a much modified team go out against Italy?
With their game against Fiji being called off, Italy will be rested or rusty for this game against France. They’re in a nothing to lose situation and can really go for it. Covid really has saved Italy from any embarrassment in this tournament and I’ll probably do a For Your Ears Only video on that for supporters of New Zealand Sport Radio.
Ireland v Georgia – Ireland by 20
Put simply, Georgia have never won a game against Tier 1 opposition and they haven’t looked like breaking that record in the Autumn Nations Cup. This is an Ireland win and the only question is by how much. 20 is on the low side but injuries and rotation of players could mean we’ll see a disjointed performance from the men in green.
Assuming that I’ve got my predictions right (and as you’ll see below I’m 100% so far) then the finals will be:
- England v France
- Ireland v Scotland
- Wales v Italy
- Georgia v Fiji (at Murrayfield in Scotland)
Record So Far
6 from 6, it doesn’t get much better than that 🙂 Let’s me honest it’s been a very predictable tournament.
