Mitre 10 Cup 2020 Round 10 Predictions

The Mitre 10 Cup is coming to an exciting conclusion. With 4 teams only separated by 3 points there are so many permutations on who could be relegated or make the finals. Well that’s if there is relegation next year, we discussed that on the DrivingMaul Show on Tuesday evening.

Steven will be at Northland v Waikato he’ll be bringing you post match interviews as usual over on our Facebook page.

You’re here for my Mitre 10 Cup predictions so let’s get straight into them.

Counties Manukau v Southland – Counties Manukau by 3

Can Southland put pressure on Northland for that final place in the playoffs? Southland have not won away all season and Counties have done OK against the teams that are around them at the bottom of the Championship.

With that in mind I think we’ll know the Championship finalists early in the weekend.

Northland v Waikato – Waikato by 3

Northland will know by the start of play what they need to do to get into the Championship finals. Waikato on the other hand are looking to put pressure on Tasman and so will need the TBP win.

Waikato though have faltered over the last couple of weekends and so I think they’ll get the win but I’m not sure about the bonus point.

New Zealand Sport Radio will be at this game bringing you match updates and post match interviews over on our Facebook Page.

Wellington v Manawatu – Wellington by 7

Wellington know that they need to win and that any kind of win will see them safe from relegation. Hosting the bottom team overall means that shouldn’t be too hard a task for them.

Otago v Tasman – Otago by 3

Oh this one is a cracker. Can Otago clinch that top spot in the Championship? Do they want to having won more games away from home that at home???

I’m going for the upset here as Otago have been going well (besides losing to Southland last weekend). Also Tasman aren’t the all conquering side they were last year.

Bay of Plenty v North Harbour – Bay of Plenty by 5

Bay of Plenty have made Tauranga a fortress and the players feel that way. They haven’t lost there in a couple of years now and so it’s going to be a might task for Harbour to go down there and pick up the win.

Bay of Plenty into the playoffs and Harbour sweating on the last game of the regular season.

Taranaki v Hawke’s Bay – Taranaki by 3

A game that might mean nothing or a lot. Taranaki will be watching that Southland game and Hawke’s Bay the Otago one. It could lead to a cracking game or a damp squib.

I’m going with the home side as I think the Ranfurly Shield has taken a lot out fo Hawke’s Bay this season and we see that in their poor away record.

Canterbury v Auckland – Auckland by 3

Oh boy the old rivalry and Canterbury are on the brink of relegation!!! Well if there isn’t a Mitre 10 Cup restructure….

I can see both sides really getting up for this one and Auckland have been the better side this season so I think they’ll send Canterbury down.

Black Ferns

Last weekend we saw the Probable take on the Possibles up in Albany Stadium as a curtain raiser to the Mitre 10 Cup game. The name is a bit misleading as it was more two evenly matched sides rather than incumbents vrs up and coming players.

Rodney Gibbs and Chad Shepherd coached the two sides and will now team up to coach the NZ Barbarians v the Black Ferns in two games.
