MLR 2020 Round 4 Predictions

Major League Rugby really has been un-predictable this season. Sure we’ve had the certainty of Legion and the Arrows. Aside from that though the expansion teams have been ripping it up and a couple of the “established” sides are really under performing.

Here’s how Round 3 went down:

New Orleans Gold v San Diego Legion – San Diego Legion by 5

The first rule of MLR picking is to pick Legion, the second rule of MLR picking is to pick San Diego. Put simply this is the easiest pick every week.

NOLA are a good team, especially at home. However they are hosting the champions elect. I just can’t see the Leigon getting tripped up until possibly May the 11th when they visit Toronto.

Austin Gilgronis v Old Glory DC – Old Glory DC by 5

The Gilgronis didn’t lose a game for the first time in over a year! They didn’t win either but they did get a draw which is a step in the right direction.

This weekend things get a bit harder as Old Glory are on a roll. They might have lost in round one but NOLA are tough to beat at home. The Gilronis aren’t at the same level.

Colorado Raptors v Utah Warriors – Colorado Raptors by 3

OK how long do I live in the past? The top two sides from the opening season are both 0-3!!! The Raptors have lost to Legion and NOLA over the last two weeks. They should have it a little easier this weekend when Utah come to visit.

Having said that Utah have definitely preformed ahead of expectations. But I think that draw last weekend with the Gilgonis is a good indication of their true level.

Seattle Seawolves v New England Free Jacks – Seattle Seawolves by 3

Oh boy no one expected the Seawolves to go 0-3 to start the season! I don’t think anyone expected the East to be so dominant over the West either! The Free Jack sit last in the East but their record would see them second in the West.

Still they have managed that with just one win and I think it’s more a sign of how badly the West has done in the opening rounds. At some point surely Seattle have to start winning games and at home to the bottom side from the East feels like the right time.

Rugby ATL v Toronto Arrows – Toronto Arrows by 5

I have not picked an Atlanta game right yet….you are warned. Surely though this is when I break my duck. ATL have been going well but the Arrows are destined for the big show. Surely the Arrows will keep their perfect record going this weekend.

Houston SaberCats v Rugby United New York – Rugby United New York by 5

Have RUNY turned the corner? They lost their opening game but wins over the Gilgronis and ATL have followed. OK that’s not the strongest opposition in the tournament but you still have to get the results.

The SaberCats have gone the other way, losing to the Arrows and Old Glory after a good opening win. Yup that’s a much tougher couple of games but how much will their moral have taken a hit with those losses. I’m going out on a limb on this one and backing the big names from the big apple.

Record So Far

8 from 18 or 44% let’s be honest I’m having a total shocker this season! Thank you for sticking with me on this one, hopefully I’ll get better.
