Super Rugby 2019 Round 12 Predictions

We are so used to the playoff slots being full of NZ sides. However it’s SA that have 4 sides in there at the moment! There are still 3 NZ sides and just the lone one from the Australia conference. Can the kiwi sides regain their dominance? Will the Australian sides climb into the playoff spots? Only time will tell.

Catchup with what happened in Round 11 with the DrivingMaul Round 11 Review.

Here is my video with my Super Rugby 2019 Round 12 Predictions:

Before we get into the actual predictions, I have started a new series “DrivingMaul v The Bookie”. Check out how I did against the TAB last weekend.

Crusaders v Cell C Sharks – Crusaders by 20

Let’s be honest the Crusaders pick is the easiest each week. The only question is by how much. The Crusaders have won their last 4 games all by more than 20 points so that’s what I’m going with. That might sound a little harsh on the Sharks who have put in a good performance against the Tahs last weekend. However I can’t believe that all their defensive issues are sorted.

I will be Live on YouTube straight after the final whistle with post match reaction.

Reds v Sunwolves – Reds by 5

Just got off the Super Rugby review show with Steve and Shane. They think that this one could be an upset. It’s all going to come down to the Reds. Are they going to be slightly complacent against the Sunwolves after last weekend’s result? If they are then they will be in trouble. Since they have had a rest week after their South Africa tour there are no excuses.

Hurricanes v Rebels – Hurricanes by 10

The Canes have only lost to the Crusaders so far this season. It has happened twice and they also do have a draw against the Chiefs but this side really knows how to win. The Rebels are yet to win outside of Australia but as they had a rest last weekend there shouldn’t be any excuses. Still I think the Canes have shown they are clearly the 2nd best side in the competition.

Highlanders v Chiefs – Highlanders by 7

This is a key clash for both these sides. The Chiefs are losing touch with the rest of the competition and can’t afford another loss. The Landers need to backup that big win over the Sunwolves if they are to put any pressure on the Canes for a home quarter-final. It’s probably already gone but you have to believe and keep pushing. The Chiefs have been struggling with so many players missing that it’s hard to see how they get their season back on track.

If you’re in Hamilton come and join me at The Zone Sports Bar for the game. If you can’t make it we’ll be streaming live on YouTube straight after the final whistle with post match reaction.

Brumbies v Blues – Blues by 3

This game I found the hardest to all of all of them this week. Shane thought I was being harsh onto Blues when we talked about this one. However the Brumbies are 3 wins from 4 games at home and the Blues have not won away all season. Surely the Blues have to break the drought at some point???

Vodacom Bulls v Waratahs – Vodacom Bulls by 7

The Bulls are so up and down it’s crazy. They have won 5 games this season but only managed to win back to back once. It’s not a home or away thing as it’s 3 wins at home and 2 away. As they lost last weekend then clearly they will win this one. Well actually it’s more about who they are facing. The Tahs have only won once away from home this season and that was a 1 point win over the Sunwolves….

Jaguares v DHL Stormers – Jaguares by 3

Another tough one to pick. Well as it includes sides from the Africa conference it’s a coin flip they way their games have been going. When these sides met in South Africa the Stormers won by 27 points. However the Jaguares are on a good streak of form with 3 wins on the trot. They left a bunch of opportunities slop last weekend and if they execute better should be safe for the win this weekend.

I will be Live on YouTube straight after the final whistle with post match reaction.
