Aviva Premiership 2016-2017 Round 13 Predictions

The Aviva Premiership enters the post Cockerill era, ok maybe it’s not that momentous but he has been a personality in the game for a long time. Here are my round 13 Aviva Premiership predictions.

First here’s a link to my round-up of all the action from around the globe last weekend.

How did your round 12 predictions go?

2 from 6, oh dear starting the year with a shocker!

Here’s my 60 second predictions, read below for my full reasoning.

Newcastle Falcons v Bath

Falcons have had a tough run of games as they have had to face 3 of the top 4 sides over these 3 weeks. So far they have acquitted themselves very well but haven’t picked up a win. You feel that it could be the same story again. I think that Bath will have too much for them but it’ll be close and they could pickup a bonus point or 2.

Gloucester Rugby v Worcester Warriors

Gloucester are bottom of a tight pack fighting it out to edge into the top 6 for a Champions Cup place next season. They have been consistently picking up points if not wins but if they want to make the top 6 this is a must win game for them. Warriors got an important win last weekend but it follows their trend of picking up points at home but not on the road. With that in mind a home win by more that a score is on the cards.

Saracens v Exeter Chiefs

Saracens have kept on picking up the wins but they haven’t picked up a TBP in the league since October. That lack of bonus points has seen Wasps over take them at the top of the table. Chiefs started the season poorly but have found their mojo over the last couple of months and have climbed up to third in the table. Still even though Saracens aren’t at their best and Exeter are on the up, very few sides will beat Saracens at their home so I’m backing a hame win but a LBP for the Chiefs.

Harlequins v Sale Sharks

This is a simple 1, Quins have won all their home games and Sale are a side that doesn’t travel well in poor form. So this is home win all the way.

Harlequins by 10

Northampton Saints v Bristol

Saints sit safely in mid-table whist Bristol are at the bottom of the table and yet you’d probably say the moral at Bristol is the better of the 2 at the moment. We are all down on Saints at the moment as we expect so much more from them. However they have managed to string a couple of wins together. Bristol also have managed 2 wins on the trot and will come into this game with a lot of confidence. However Saints should have too much quality for Bristol but maybe a LBP will be a good return.

Northampton Saints by 5

Wasps v Leicester Tigers

The last game is my game of the round, with the big question being if the sacking of Cockerill will energise Tigers? Wasps have been going well where they are punishing teams for turning over the ball exceptionally well. But they do let a lot of points in having conceded more points than any of the top 6 sides. Tigers will have to make sure they don’t turn the ball over to be in with a chance in this game. I can’t see that happening and I think Wasps will take this at home.
