This is the final game of the opening block and we’ll be moving onto European competitions after this. It also means a quarter of the regular season will be completed. Here are my round 6 predictions.
First here is a link to my round-up of all the action from last weekend.
How did your round 5 predictions go?
4 from 6, I only have myself to blame as I predicted a draw.
Here’s my 1 Line Predictions, read below for my full thoughts.
Bath v Sale Sharks
Bath started the season well but with a relatively easy schedule, they got Saints before they were up to speed and lost to Tigers. Sale on the other hand beat Tigers at home. Yup AT HOME, this is Sales problem. At home Sale are very strong but they are only an average side away from home. So you have to go with a Bath home win.

Exeter Chiefs v Gloucester Rugby
Exeter came up just short away to Saints last weekend and you could say that thy have lost all their games against top opposition. Lucky for them Gloucester aren’t top opposition. Gloucester have really struggled this season to put in full 80 minute performances. Getting beaten by local rivals Bath at home last weekend will have been soul-destroying for the fans. Going away to Exeter isn’t the tonic they need and it’s going toe another home win.

Harlequins v Northampton Saints
Quins are the new Sale having won their home games and lost their away games. Or you could say that they have only got up for 1 game and that was magnificent against Saracens. Getting blown away by Wasps will have removed a lot of the feel good factor from that win over Saracens. Saints look like they have brushed off some of that early season rust and are going much better. I think that they should back up their recent performances with a win over Quins.
Northampton Saints by 5
Leicester Tigers v Worcester Warriors
Tigers have been up and down this season but this weekend they are facing a side that they should be able to get a result from. Warriors are improving but all their points have come from home games. A LBP here would be a great result for them.
Leicester Tigers by 7
Newcastle Falcons v Bristol
Falcons have had a fabulous start to the season with 10 points and have got something from every game except that blowout against Bath. The opposite could be said about Bristol and for me this is a must win game for them. We all knew their opening 5 games would be extremely tough but to be 7 points adrift already will start to affect morale. Unfortunately for them Falcons have started well and I think will be tough to beat at home.
Newcastle Falcons by 7
Saracens v Wasps
This is the tie of the round, with the top 2 teams facing off. Wasps take their unbeaten record to Saracens and we can only hope that it lives up to the promise. Interestingly the Twitter poll I took has Wasps as favourite. That’s a surprise as so many people have been talking about Saracens going for the double again. I think that home field advantage will be the deciding factor in a tight game.
