The Rugby Championship 2016 Round 4 Predictions

We are halfway in The Rugby Championship and if the All Blacks win this weekend they can win the whole thing. Here are my round 4 predictions.

First here is a link to my round-up of all the action from around the globe last weekend.

How did your predictions go last weekend?

2 from 2, I’m still 100% for the championship!

Here are my 1 Line Predictions with my reasoning below.

New Zealand v South Africa

This prediction was made before the teams were named but having seen the squads it doesn’t change anything. The All Blacks are going with continuity with Ardie stepping up to replace Sam Cane. It’s hard to see any team beating the All Blacks but a Springboks side that doesn’t look like it knows what style it’s trying to play brings even less confidence. At least they are sticking with the Faf/Jantijes halfback pairing. These guys are new to the international scene and need to be given time to settle in and feel comfortable. It’s really the coaching that’s worrying most of us as it looks like it’s totally lacking. Anyway home win and let’s hope for an enjoyable game.

Australia v Argentina

Again the “under card” is the more intriguing game. This won’t obviously affect who wins the tournament which is why I’m calling it the under card but it will affect second to fourth. The Wallabies got a much-needed moral boosting win last weekend over the Boks. Just before that the Pumas put in a spirited 50 minutes performance before the game ran away from them. As you can see below a lot of people are going off that first 50 minutes in their predictions. Yes it was impressive but the Wallabies ended up losing by fewer points at the whistle. So I think with home advantage the Wallabies will have just enough to hold on. It might be a different story in London in a couple of weeks though.
