This has been the most competitive U20s Championship that I can remember and the first that New Zealand haven’t made the main semi-finals. Here are my predictions.
Here is a link to my round-up of last weekend’s action.
How did your round 3 predictions go?
6 from 6, after 2 50% rounds it’s great to get a full one.
Here’s my 30 second One Line Predictions, for my full reasons read below.
Georgia U20 v Italy U20
Georgia have shown up well in this tournament in a very tough group. They have only scored 1 try though and it’s their going forward that I’m a little worried about. Italy on the other hand haven’t been close in any of their games. I think Georgia will be fired up for this as they try to prove they deserve the same opportunities as Italy and I’m going for them to win it.
Georgia U20 by 3
New Zealand U20 v Wales U20
These tow sides meet again. It took a last minute penalty for the Baby Blacks to win it last time. It’s going to come down to which side has learnt best from the last match and can exploit the other weaknesses. I’m going for the Baby Blacks purely on pedigree.
New Zealand U20 by 3
Ireland U20 v Argentina U20
Both these sides have surprised me but especially Ireland who dispatched New Zealand on the way to the semi finals. So on the back of that showing I’m backing the men in green to make the big final.
Ireland U20 by 5
France U20 v Japan U20
Basically Japan have been out of their depth in this tournament and France have just slipped into the bottom group. This should be an easy win for France as they will be fighting make sure they aren’t in the bottom 3 and so bottom seeds for next year.
France U20 by 14
Scotland U20 v Australia U20
These teams met earlier in the tournament and Scotland won that encounter 15-10. For me they have been the more impressive outfit as Australia have disappointed and so I think they can do it again.
Scotland U20 by 3
England U20 v South Africa U20
England have topped the rankings in their home tournament. They have put the poor 6 Nations well behind them and the addition of Premiership experience has really told. I think that they will take what will be a hard fought encounter and face off against Ireland in the final.
England U20 by 7
