The Mens World Sevens Series came to a close and the Aviva Premiership and Pro12 decided their finalists. Here is my weekend’s round up.
A brief round up this week as things have been busy in my real life.
Aviva Premiership

Exeter Chiefs 34 – 23 Wasps
2 from 2, the home sides took home the spoils.
The top two teams from the regular season continued their form into the playoffs and will meet at Twickenham.
Super Rugby
Crusaders 29 – 10 Waratahs
Reds 35 – 25 Sunwolves
Chiefs 36 – 15 Rebels
Force 13 – 17 Blues
Lions 52 – 24 Jaguares
Sharks 53 – 0 Kings
Bulls 17 – 13 Stormers
7 from 7, great to have my first clean sweep of the season.
The New Zealand sides continued to dominate along with the Lions impressing. The Tahs suffered a setback as the Brumbies had a weekend off in Australia.
Pro12
Leinster 30 – 18 Ulster
Connacht Rugby 16 – 11 Glasgow Warriors
0 from 2, I went agains history and predicted away wins.
History repeated it’s self and the home sides continued the run of always winning the Pro12 smell-final playoffs. The top 2 teams will meet in Edinburgh.

Agen 13 – 52 Toulon
Castres 67 – 20 La Rochelle
Racing Metro 92 43 – 13 Section Paloise
US Oyonnax 17 – 25 Toulouse
Brive 45 – 24 Grenoble
Montpellier 19 – 16 Bordeaux Begles
Clermont Auvergne 36 – 10 Stade Francais
With only 2 games left of the regular season Clermont are 6 points clear at the top. Toulon and Montpellier are chasing with both on 77 points. Racing and Toulouse look certain to make the playoffs with Castres and Bordeaux fighting it out for the last place.
ProRugby
Denver 41 – 37 San Francisco
Ohio 50 – 17 Sacramento
Denver cemented their place at the top of the table but it was a much improved performance from San Francisco to get close. Ohio climbed in to second place as San Diego had a weekend off.
7s World Series
Scotland won their first stop of the World Series in London which was a shock as they had not been making the cup quarter finals on a regular basis. Fiji secured the World Series Championship. The Championship was really split into 3 sections. In the first 2 tournaments we had 8 different teams making the cup semifinals suggesting it was going to be a competitive season. Over the next 5 stops Fiji, South Africa and New Zealand showed that they were a step above the rest. Australia secured 4th place being in a kind of no mans land between the top 3 and the chasing pack. Then over the last 3 tournaments we have has 3 first time winner this season in Samoa, Kenya and Scotland to again throw the whole thing open with Rio looming.
Next weekend the women have their 5th and final stop of the world tour with Australia looking to secure the title after winning 3 of the first 4 tournaments.
