It’s back to the day job of the domestic leagues. The Pro 12 is nearing the half way point and over the festive period it’s local derby time. Here are my round 10 predictions.
How did your round 9 predictions go?
3 from 5, there’s no getting away from it, it was a poor round for me.
Scarlets v Ospreys
Scarlets are top of the Pro12 and have been playing well with only 1 loss in the league. Their european campaign has not been going so well and with the other teams getting their world cup stars back the suggestion has been they lack the quality of the other sides. This will be a good test as the Ospreys are a team that has improved since they have got their players back. I think that home advantage and the form that Scarlets have been showing will be enough to win this one.

Connacht Rugby v Ulster
Connacht have been the other pace setters in league and again this is going to be a good test of their ability to maintain it through the season. Connacht are suffering from a long injury list and so their results have been a bit up and down recently. Ulster have been relatively disappointing but have had a very impressive couple of results in Europe. Again I’m going with a home win but again it’s a close call.

Newport Gwent Dragons v Cardiff Blues
Dragons have had another poor season but a couple of good results recently are cause for optimism. The funny thing is that the same applies to Blues and so this is another game that is hard to call. Blues have more of an upside but I’m going to go with then home team in another tight game that is hard to call.

Zebre v Benetton Treviso
One of the easier games to predict this weekend, Zebre have been the better of the two disappointing Italian sides. So it’s a home win.

Edinburgh v Glasgow Warriors
Glasgow are the reigning champions and are getting back into the swing of things as they all their world cup stars back into their systems. Edinburgh started the season well with 4 wins on the trot but only one win since then has been a wakeup call. So I’m going with the champions and their recent form.

Munster v Leinster
Both these sides have had similar seasons, going ok in the league and not up to the mark in Europe. The big difference has been that Leinster should have beaten Toulon at least once over the last couple of weeks. Munster has not looked as impressive and so I’m going with the away win.
