Aviva Premiership 2015-2016 Round 6 Predictions

After this round we’ll be a quarter of the season through already! Wow it’s zooming past and here’s my predictions for round 6.

First here is my review of round 5.

How did your predictions go last week?

5 from 6, I don’t think anyone guessed the draw though.

Gloucester Rugby v Sale Sharks

Gloucester are struggling this season with their 2 wins coming over Falcons and Warriors leaving them 3rd from bottom. Last week they got bossed by Saints forwards, at least that shouldn’t happen this week. Sharks were going well at home until they stumbled last week against Falcons getting only a draw. Away they have lost all their games so I think we are going to see a moral boosting home win for Gloucester.

Gloucester Rugby by 5

Harlequins v London Irish

Quins have been revitalised this season. They targeted their signings at exactly their weaknesses and even though they haven’t all played clearly it’s brought the best out in the other players. I still feel they are very reliant on Evens and him staying fit. Irish have lost all their games by at least double figures. They really need to get all their new players in and have some training to get to know each other. They are going to lose and their target has to be showing some form heading into the new year when they have Gloucester and Newcastle.

Worcester Warriors v Leicester Tigers

So far this season Warriors have a 100% win record at home. This weekend though they come up against Tigers who are doing better than everybody expected but are struggling to score tries in the league. I think the home record will go but not by a large margin.

Leicester Tigers by 5

Bath v Northampton Saints

Bath have been out of sorts and injuries aren’t helping them. A moral boosting win over Leinster was undone by a loss away to Tigers. Saints also struggled at the start of the season but they backed up good European form with a win over Gloucester. They are still far from their best but I’m backing them to win narrowly away.

Northampton Saints by 3

Wasps v Exeter Chiefs

Wasps backed up their spectacular win over Toulon with their first away win in the league against Irish. Wade has been lost to injury which will be a loss but they still have quality backs. Exeter have been looking really good this season with a hiccup in Europe where they looked nervous on that stage. A win in wet conditions last weekend will have settled that but this is the time of year when Exeter traditionally goes on a losing streak. Even without the weather factor it’s hard to look past a home win but I think it will be tight.

Newcastle Falcons v Saracens

Falcons got their first points of the season via a draw last week to leave Irish alone at the bottom of the table. This week though they face Saracens who are the only unbeaten side in Europe this season. This one is going to be an away win and whilst I initially thought it was an obvious TBP Saracens tries for stats have been inflated by that Warriors win last weekend. I’m still backing a comfortable win but I’m not sure about the TBP.
