Can the semi finals live up to last weekend’s games? We can only hope so and here are my predictions of the results.
First here’s a link to my review of the playoffs.
How did your predictions of the playoffs go?
1 from 2, I went for the home teams.
Hurricanes v Brumbies
The home teams in both this weekend’s games earned a rest last weekend by coming top of the table. For this game that could be really telling as the Brumbies had to travel to South Africa last weekend. They pulled off a wonderful victory using their backs after living off their lineout and maul for so long. The Canes though are going to be a different challenge. The Hurricanes have been runaway leaders of the table, even with some key injuries. After all the travel and a dodgy away record, I can’t see the Brumbies being able to contain the Canes.

Waratahs v Highlanders
The Highlanders have been one of the refreshing highlights of the season. The men from the deep south have been carving up teams for fun. They are heavily reliant on their All Blacks and as they are all available, will present a considerable challenge. The Tahs in contrast have quietly gone about winning the Australian conference. There have also been embarrassing losses like those to the Force for example. That is all in the past now for the defending champions though. My heart says Landers but the head looks at the Tahs results and tells me to go for two home wins again.

We are going into a little lull in the amount of rugby being played but the Rugby Championship and Pacific Nations Cup kick off in July. Then in August the Currie Cup, ITM Cup and NRC will start. Click on any of the names to join in my prediction leagues and test your wits against me.
