There are only 5 rounds to go until the playoffs so every game counts for those still in with a chance. Here are my round 14 predictions.
First here is a link to my review of the last round.
How did your predictions go in the last round?
4 from 6, so a bit of an average performance.
Blues v Bulls
The Bulls are still in the fight to win the South African conference but it’s dependent on them having a good tour. It starts against the worst performing of the Kiwi sides. The Blues only have two victories so far this season but that record belies a good attacking talent. There problem has been in execution and putting together a full 80 minute performance. The Bulls will put in a full 80 minutes and be too strong for the Blues.

Reds v Rebels
The Reds have had a poor season and there are no signs that it’s going to change soon. The appointments to the training staff will need time to take effect. The Rebels on the other hand have been having break through season and this should be another landmark win. If the two more established sides of the Tahs and Brumbies slip-up then they could still make the playoffs.

Hurricanes v Chiefs
This fixture has been eagerly anticipated for some weeks. Due to the vagaries of the Super Rugby scheduling these two sides have not yet met but will do so twice in five weeks. The Canes have been the standout team this season and the second placed Chiefs have been backing up their preseason favourites tag. This should be a high quality game but both teams are missing their flyhalves so who will cope the best?

Waratahs v Sharks
The Tahs keep stumbling just when they look like getting back to their best and that happened again last weekend. The Sharks were harshly dealt with by the ref last weekend and with the return of their stars from suspension are much stronger. This is a game that the Tahs need to win, I feel home advantage along with the Sharks tiring tour will be enough for a close win.
Waratahs by 5
Lions v Brumbies
Another close and intriguing game, both these sides need the victory and I think it is going to be a coin toss as to who will win. All the Lions victories have been by 5 or less points so I feel this one will be close as well. So it’s not with much confidence but I’m going with a home win.

Cheetahs v Highlanders
The Cheetahs managed a surprise win over the Stormers last time out. This will have given them much needed confidence for their week off. However the Landers are one of the other surprise packages this season and harbour playoff hopes. So I’m expecting that exciting back three to run riot and pick up a much needed win.
