Aviva Premiership 2014-2015 Round 20 Predictions

At the top of the table all is still to play for with plenty of games seeing those teams go head to head over the next few weeks. Here are my predictions of round 20.

First here is a link to my review of round 19 from 2 weeks ago.

How did you predictions of the last round go?

4 from 6, so fairly average as I didn’t get either of the upsets.

Bath v London Irish

Irish have had a good set of result that have pulled them clear of the Falcons and onto the coattails of Gloucester. But this week they travel to Bath who have recovered from a run of losses during the 6 Nations. Bath have only lost to Saints at home this season in the league and this should be a win by at least a couple of scores.

Bath by 11

Sale Sharks v Harlequins

Sharks have slipped up a bit recently with losses in their last 3 away games. Home form though has been much better having only lost to Tigers and Bath. Quins have only managed to string 2 wins together once this season so with that win last round this must mean a loss. In the end this is a must win for both sides. Sale are still in with a chance of 6th along with automatic entry to the champions cup and Quins of 7th for the possible playoff for champions cup.

Sale Sharks by 5

Gloucester Rugby v Newcastle Falcons

One of the few dead rubbers this week, I wouldn’t be surprised to see some rotation from Gloucester as they have the final of the challenge cup next week. Even so Falcons only away win this season has been at Welsh. So a comfortable home win, even though Falcons have been playing a better brand of rugby.

Gloucester Rugby by 14

Leicester Tigers v London Welsh

Simply a TBP win for Tigers and this will improve their points difference from -2 to something positive for the rest of the season.

Leicester Tigers by 40

Northampton Saints v Saracens

Saints have had a weekend off and boy did they need it after a big loss to Clermont followed up by a loss to Exeter. Saracens have also lost to Clermont in Europe but it was a much closer result. Saracens have had a couple of good big home victories which has boosted their points difference to be the best in the league. I feel that this is going to be a tight game but that Saracens are in better form and will just sneak it.

Saracens by 3

Wasps v Exeter Chiefs

Chiefs have been on a real roller coaster recently. In the cups they did make the LV= final but last narrowly before going out at the semifinal stage of the Challenge Cup. In the league they lost to Tigers but managed a convincing win over Saints. Wasps were enjoying their new home only they have slipped up recently against Saracens at home. They only stopped a run of a couple of losses against Welsh in the last round. I’m going to back the the Chiefs to beat a Wasps side stumbling at the end of a long season.

Exeter Chiefs by 5
