Super Rugby 2015 Round 4 Predictions

Super Rugby just gets into the swing of things an 3 teams take a weekend off. So there are only 6 games this weekend and here are my predictions.

First up here is a link to my review of round 3.

How did last week’s predictions go?

5 out of 7, so not bad but not great either.

Chiefs v Highlanders

I’m hoping to make this game which will mean something like a 4 hours plus round trip. The Chiefs have started the season in style laying down some early signs that they could be going all the way. The Highlanders on the other hand have been a bit up and down which they might continue to be with their style of rugby. That does mean they are a threat to every team but sometimes will lose easily. So I’m going with the Chiefs but it should be a good game to watch.

Chiefs win

Brumbies v Force

Brumbies have started the season well and look like one of the contenders this year, they did come unstuck against the Chiefs but that’s nothing to be ashamed of. The Force caught everybody including the Tahs by surprise in round 1 but since then have lost twice. So I’m expecting the Brumbies attack to be too much for the Force to contain.

Brumbies win

Blues v Lions

Battle of the basement dwellers, at least after this game there should only be one team without a win so far in the season. OK there could be a draw but that’s unlikely. The Blues are at home but not in their home stadium due to the cricket world cup going on at Eden Park. As the Blues are at “home” and they have been closer in their games I’m going for a home win.

On a side note I’ll be skipping the rugby and going to the cricket at Eden Park this Saturday.

Blues win

Reds v Waratahs

After being mugged by the Force the Tahs fight to a good victory over the Rebels then took an early week off. The Reds have been up and down losing then winning then losing so maybe the sequence suggests a win. However I can’t see it happening, the Reds do have good players but the coaching side is poor and has lost the dressing room. So they will produce some good win but will be inconsistent and against the Tahs I don’t think that’s going to be enough.

Waratahs win

Cheetahs v Bulls

This one I really struggled with, after getting a great win in week on the last thing the Cheetahs would have wanted was a week off. But that’s how the schedule was, they did manage the tightest of wins over a poor Blues side last week though so confidence should be high. The Bulls on the other hand had a shocking start to the season with two losses, but a win last week will have helped even if they dominated the game but not the score board. If they let the Cheetahs back so easily they will lose so I’m going with a home win.

Cheetahs win

Stormers v Sharks

The Stormers have had an easy draw but you can only play the teams your drawn against and they have three wins. Those were against the Bulls plus the bottom two teams so too much shouldn’t be read into this just yet. The Sharks only win has been against the Lions after getting mugged by the Cheetahs and then falling to the Bulls who should have been out of sight. So this one should be a fairly comfortable if high scoring home win.

Stormers win
