Aviva Premiership 2014-2015 Round 16 Predictions

We have a clear idea of who’s fighting for the playoffs and it’s quite a long list. Two games this weekend sees sides from that list face each other, read on for my predictions.

First up here is my review of round 15.

How did the predictions go?

4 from 6, that’s fairly good when there has been a draw.

Northampton Saints v Harlequins

Saints are the current champions and clear at the top of the league. They are missing some players but that hasn’t harmed them and players are coming back from injury. Quins on the other hand are having a poor season and are missing key players to international duty. Quins have lost back to back games against Wasps and Chiefs and this is going to be another one.

Northampton Saints win

London Welsh v London Irish

This is one of the best opportunities for Welsh to pick up a win. Irish are looking towards next season rather than being able to achieve much this. Even so this should still be an Irish win.

London Irish win

Leicester Tigers v Sale Sharks

Sale are the team that I call the most wrong. They are coming off the back of three wins including against Saints and Saracens. However both of those victories were at home and they will be missing Cipriani. Tigers will be missing key players and whilst they are coming off two victories they were both close. Still I’m going with Tigers at home but not with much confidence.

Leicester Tigers win

Saracens v Newcastle Falcons

Things are tight and Saracens have been stumbling recently where as Falcons are a team on the up. But Falcons were starting from a low point and whilst things are much improved, they are losing more than they win. So this is one that Saracens should win even missing their international stars.

Saracens win

Exeter Chiefs v Bath

For me this is the tie of the round, OK I’m an Exeter supporter but both teams are in the playoff positions. Also Exeter have not beaten Bath in the league, they did get close last season with a draw. This is their best opportunity as Bath are missing key players to England whist Chiefs are only missing Nowell. Exeter are one of the form teams after their traditional slump over christmas where as Bath are having a hard time without their England stars.

Exeter Chiefs win

Wasps v Gloucester Rugby

This should be a good game of rugby even if both sides are missing key players. Wasps have been enjoying life in their new home and getting good crowds. With Gloucester missing 8 and 9 I think that they will be disjointed especially as Twelvetrees has been in and out of the England camp. Wasps are missing Haskel who is their captain I still think they will have too much attacking prowess for Gloucester.

Wasps win
