Tidy but not pristine

Singapore is still a tidy place but not as pristine as its image would have you believe. I don’t know of it’s just a poor memory but I’m sure it was tidier 9 years ago when we arrived. I think most of the tidiness is due to the number of cleaners rather than every bodies behavior. For example our street is swept everyday except Sundays by the same person. In my 5 min walk to the station each day, I pass another 2 guys sweeping. So yes it is still clean and tidy, but boy does it take some effort!

  1. I honestly think that if we replaced these foreign workers with local ones and introduced minimum wage for road sweepers, more people (especially locals) would take pride in keeping this city-state clean and green.
